_Reusing Original Wood Trim and Molding:  We carefully extract the wood boards using a crowbar.  Nails ought to be extracted as you go along (much like doing dishes, its best doing such not so glamorous jobs in small increments….also, there is the issue of safety).  Wood should be stored in groupings according to each room or segment of home.  Once, we complete our job of tearing down all the plaster and wood lath, and, have put up insulation and drywall, the wood boards can be put back in place.

_Reusing Fixtures:  Some fixtures can be easily reused.  For example by carefully removing bathroom tile, these pieces can be reused in areas where top looks are not a priority (basements, laundry area, etc).  Now these standard square tile are not expensive at all, but they do take resources to make.  Easier fixtures to reuse may include ceiling fans and light fixtures.  Of course, original doors and hardware should always be preserved!
