Remodelling can cause an awful lot of waste. No matter how “green” you are in your choices for products and methods you introduce in the home, what was already there is a monkey on your back. Like any relationship, your stuck with your homes past!
Depending upon your resources many of the items you are forced to take out of your home can find “greener pastures” (pun fully intended). Many areas have household recycling centers and some manufactures have buy back programs at hand.

In addition to whatever products we cannot re-use we have found a construction waste desposal company that recycles the waste for us. A dumpster container gets dropped off on our property. Once we have filled it up with debri we call the company and they come pick it up. It goes to a nearby facility for sorting, from there it gets reintroduced into other products. They are part of the waste equals food web.
